The PondFil Float automatically tops off your pond as water level go down. It provides carbon filtration for chlorine removal when filling ponds. A carbon cartridge has an average life of 25,000 gallons.
This kit contains:
- a 10 inch blue canister
- garden hose connectors
- carbon cartridge
- float valve
- float valve support
- 10 feet of 1/4 inch pressure tubing
Instructions
It is recommended that this system be located in a shaded area. Overexposure
to direct sun may cause damage to the unit. Placement of tubing and hoses should
be away from any potential damage (i.e. Lawn mowers, weed eaters, etc.). Once
installation is complete, take the supplied canister wrench and tighten the
canister onto the black canister head. Tighten just enough to stop leaking at
the threads.
After installation is complete, the system is ready for use. Make sure that
the canister was flushed as in step 4. For filling a pond, turn the house spigot
on full flow. Once the float is up and during normal operation, turn the spigot
to 1/4 of full flow.
Keep debris or decorations away from the float valve. The float valve should
not be interfered with or obstructed during use. The canister is rated to de-chlorinate
25,000 gallons at 2 ppm of chlorine. It is recommended to change the canister
at least every 6 months or sooner if gallons are exceeded. Do Not leave the
carbon canister outside when the temperature reaches below 35 degrees. Freezing
will damage the canister and carbon cartridge.
Installation Instructions:
- Installing float support: It is recommended to place the
support and float in an area of the pond so it can be easily concealed. With
the support spike on the outside of the pond, hammer the spike into the ground
until the support is firmly in place.
- Float Valve Placement: The float valve support is constructed
with three float placement holes. Choose which hole the float valve should
be installed to attain proper pond water level. Remove the nut and hose connection
from the float. Leave the rubber gasket seal on the threaded stem. Put the
threaded stem through the selected hole in the support.
- Float Valve Installation: Screw the black mounting nut
onto the threaded stem and tighten with a wrench. Teflon tape the exposed
area on the threaded stem (wrap about 4 times or as needed). Screw the hose
connector onto the threaded stem and tighten down with a wrench, but not too
tight.
- Tubing Installation Part 1: Take the length of tubing
and insert one end into the canisters INPUT fitting. Tighten
the compression nut finger tight. Cut it to 3 to 4 ft. Insert the other end
into the connection that will attach to a garden hose. Place the canister's
output into a bucket or drain and turn the water on. The water that comes
out will be black with carbon dust. Flush the canister until the water turns
clear. Turn off the water and proceed to the next step.
- Tubing Installation Part 2: Take the rest of the tubing
and insert one end into the hose connector on the float and tighten the compression
nut finger tight. Insert the other end of the tubing into the canister's output
fitting. Tighten the compression nut finger tight.
- Final Installation: Place a large rocks on top of the
float support in such a way that it will give support and concealment. Make
sure the rocks do not crush the blue tubing. Once all the installation steps
are complete, make sure all compression nuts are finger tight and then give
them a 1-1/4 turn with a wrench. Turn the water on and check for leaks.
