How long do Universal Rock waterfalls last?
Originally tested by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Universal Rocks tested very positively under normal weather conditions. Universal Rocks will react to the weather the same as natural rock and color may vary.
How do Universal Rocks compare with real rock?
Universal Rocks are lightweight, easy to move, durable and environmentally friendly. Real rocks are heavy and often inaccessible, with heavy machinery required to transport them. This limits where you can position them. Real rock can often crack over time due to contact with water. Real rock is becoming harder to get as you are no longer allowed to remove it from the bush. Prices are comparable when transport and machinery costs are considered.
Begin by placing the rock liner on a relatively flat and level surface.
Place the rock surround over the rock liner (sometimes when placing the surround over the pond base, it may be necessary to bend the top edge in one or two places to allow the surround to sit flat. This is best to be done before filling the pond with water).
Now is the time to look at the alignment to be sure that the patio pond looks good in your setting.
Place the waterfall on the rock surround to the most desirable and level position.
Your pond should now be ready to fill with water.
Connect the water pump to the waterfall. Plug in the pump – we recommend using a GFCI protected, outdoor rated plug.
Please consult with a qualified electrician if you are unsure of your connection.
Pump cover rocks are also available to help you disguise the rock and tubing. This is simply placed on top of your pump and tubing to continue the natural appeal.
Rocks and pebbles can be placed on the water outlet of the waterfall as well as scattered about the surface of the waterfall – this helps to disperse the water more evenly.
Now is the time to use plants and water plants together with decoration ornaments of your choice.
After water has been conditioned, fish can be added.
