Islandscapes Floating Island Ecosystem
This Movie shows how easy it is to add plants to the Garden Islandscapes (there is no audio with this movie).
The first step when planting your island is to choose your plants. Allow for the maximum size of the plants when choosing the spacing on the island. Place plants so that when they are mature they will overhang the island. This will enhance the appearance and make the island appear larger.
Remove the 3" plugs from the island. Place your plants and fill with the included soil mix. If any plant pockets are left unplanted, they should also be filled with the soil mix. Fill the 3/4" diameter holes with the soil mix to facilitate the uptake of water for the plants.
Tether the island in your pond and enjoy.

Islandscapes provide shade and safety from predetors. Roots and concentrated nutrients have a tasty "floating supermarket" effect that is beneficial to fish growth. They also provide habitat for frogs and turtles.
Improve Water Quality

Islandscapes attract and bond suspended solids. The open matrix and the plant roots provides floating
phytofilter, a true four-stage biological system that removes phosphates, ammonia, nitrates and nitrites. The effect on water quality is dramatic and completely chemical free. Plants growing on islands are 2-5 times more efficient in removing pollutants from pond water than plants in pots.
