Comments: This product does well for my ponds. It does turn the water brown for several hours, but promotes good bacteria as well as break down debris. My fish, plants, snails and tadpoles are doing well.

Comments: This is my first year with Sludge Away, and I used as stated on bottle.
The first cup started to make my water dark but I went ahead and and put in four more cups (I have a 500 gallon pond). A week later I treated again and the next day my pond which started out pea green was clear. The water turned dark both times I put the product in the pond but the dark color went away with in 1 hour both times. Fish water and plants look great and bottom of pond is clean. I will use this product as long as I have a pond.

Comments: I just put in 2 gallons in a 20,000+ gallon pond 5ft deep (Jan 2009). It did turn the water more brown. I will wait and see how long it takes to clear up a little more. Has waterfall and fountain with 3 10,000/hr pumps.

Comments: I used this product for the first time this summer (JUN.2008) inconjunction with the Microb Lift Bacteria product. My only comment is that your web site states that it will NOT discolor the water. My bottle of sludge away appeared like liquid chocolate and DID color my water dark brown - in the last two weeks since the application the fish can be seen but the water still has a brown color. I am okay with the darker water as I find it is more natural looking and this may in fact help protect the fish but don't advertise it as 'will NOT color the water'. Tell it as it is.

Sludge Away is not a general pond clarifyer. If that's what you think it is, you are wasting your money. Your pond water should not be constantly drinking-water clear. If it is, you are trying to grow an aquarium in your backyard and you do not yet understand the eco-system of a natural pond. Maintaining a proper eco-systems is extremely easy, anyone can do it. The problem i that too many folks start a pond without even picking up the simplest pamphlet to explain to them what they should be trying to acheive. This product will effectively control and elliminate excess pond sludge, that layer of mud that settles over the rocks and light fixtures from dead pond leaves and other debris. But you must still get the old net out and skim the leaves and trash off the surface of the pond. If you don't, the sludge will come right back.
